What to know
Is laser hair removal safe?
Yes! Sometimes patients are concerned when they hear we use a "laser." But there is no reason for concern. The DiolazeXL, which is FDA-cleared, is extremely safe with zero side effects. It can be used safely on almost all areas of the body. Not only is its diode laser harmless, but the Diolaze system is designed with an automatic shut off and 3-part cooling system to protect your skin from over-heating. The laser only targets the pigment in the hair follicles. Best of all, the treatment does not result in scarring, downtime or recovery time.
When will I see results from laser hair removal?
Results for a laser hair removal treatment with Diolaze can be seen immediately since it disables the hair follicles faster than other laser treatments. However, since only about 20-30% of your hair follicles are active at any given time, multiple treatments are typically required. For large areas, like the legs and back, treatment can be completed in four to six 20 to 30-minute sessions. Smaller treatment areas like the upper lip can be treated in minutes and only require a single session. We schedule each session approximately four to six weeks after the previous session to allow treatments to take full effect. During that time, the treated hair follicles will become inactive and the hairs will fall out. The 4-6 week waiting period is set to ensure that the next group of hair follicles is active.
Does laser hair removal hurt?
Not with the DiolazeXL device, which is a major reason why we choose to use it exclusively for laser hair removal at our practice in Milford, Connecticut. The device uses an advanced cooling system
to keep the skin at a comfortable temperature and prevent any pain or sensitivity from heating of the follicles caused by the diode laser.
