Botox and Dysport FAQs
What to know
What's the difference between Botox and Dysport?
Both Dysport and Botox are types of botulinum toxin injections used to primarily treat and prevent wrinkles, as well as occasionally treat muscle spasms in certain health conditions. The main difference between Botox and Dysport lies in the potency of trace proteins found in each. Dysport is produced by the pharmaceutical company Galderma,, while Botox is manufactured by Allergan. Dysport is typically used for correcting the frown lines between the eyebrows, and is often best at spreading over a greater area of the face. Bostox can be used to treat many different types of wrinkles, and is typically best at addressing deeper wrinkles in specific areas of the face. The effects of Dysport may show up sooner, but Botox may last longer.
How long will treatment last?
Both Botox and Dysport treatments work fast. On average, Botox results take full effect within 5 to 10 days and last between 3 and 5 months. With Dysport results on average can be noticeable after 2 to 3 days, and last the same length of time as Botox. Please be aware results vary for each individual patient.
Do Botox or Dysport injections hurt?
Botox and Dysport are safe, non-invasive, effective treatments. They typically do not hurt, anymore than a pinch felt from an average shot. Afterwards there may be some slight sensitivity or mild common side effects, which should dissipate not long after.
