Functional Medicine is a growing field of modern medicine offering tremendous steps forward in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatments of many chronic diseases. Using advanced diagnostics, we can identify the underlying causes of many health conditions. These test results enable us to develop personalized treatment protocols aimed to keep you healthy for years to come!

Types of Diagnostic Tests

Lab Testing: Our model of Functional Medicine involves lab diagnostic testing. These lab tests help to identify and correct imbalances in your brain and body chemistry which may be early symptoms of a disease. Our lab tests may uncover factors that could potentially contribute to illnesses such as nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, immune imbalances, microbiological imbalances, and more.

Dexa Body Scanning: The revolutionary DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) scan presents a diagnostic measurement of not only total body fat but also lean tissue (muscle), visceral fat, and bone density. The information we collect will help us work with you to develop a plan to attain and sustain healthy body weight and to maintain your bone health.

V02 Max testing: VO2 max refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that you can utilize during intense exercise. This measurement is considered the best indicator of cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. The more oxygen you can use during high-level activity, the more energy you can produce. This test helps determine your cardiorespiratory fitness level because your muscles require oxygen for extended aerobic exercise, and your heart must pump sufficient amounts of blood to meet the demands of your aerobic exercise.

Genome Testing (Genomics): Genomic testing involves using your unique genes to identify how to treat and prevent health problems. There are hundreds of genes linked to the development of particular diseases. We use genetic testing to determine which processes in your body are not working efficiently or those that have the potential of causing chronic conditions, and then design treatment protocols to keep you in optimal health.

RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate): We also test your Resting Metabolic Rate which tells us your caloric expenditure at rest and during routine daily activity. This then gives us a baseline against which to work on a nutritional program aimed at fat loss.  That baseline will also change during an exercise program as a metabolic measure of success.

There are many other tests we may utilize including saliva hormonal test, advanced fatty acid blood plasma test, and more. Our goal is to uncover what is happening within your body to prevent any potential diseases from developing and to treat any current condition.
